CHANGE OF TITLE OF BLOG

Today I have change the name of my blog to Dear Mister President, what would the average South African citizen have to say to the President of South Africa, given the opportunity.  This blog gives you the citizen a local voice, to speak your mind with respect and dignity, but to speak out and claim your civil right, guaranteed in the Constitution of South Africa.  Here we can share ideas, speak against all wrong in our communities, service providers and inspire our your youth to reach for that, what is right and just.  I want to create a platform, where average citizens, like you and me can make a difference.

STEENBERG SAPS REACHES OUT TO THE COMMUNITY OF THE GREATER RETREAT

The Social Crime and School safety strategy of Steenberg Saps is aimed at addressing the violent crime level, which the Steenberg precinct has endured, during the past financial year.  The precinct were plagued by an increase in violent crime, such as murder, attempted murder, robberies and assaults.  Instability in the community was prevalent after an analysis of violent crime was conducted.  Steenberg experience the use of youth in committing crime, thus highlighting the vulnerable position in which the youth find themselves currently.  One of the main corporate objectives of the newly appointed Provincial Commissioner General Lamoer is that the police play an active role in addressing Social Crime related matters.
The management of Steenberg Saps have decided to follow an integrated approach to bring about significant change within the community, that is both in line with the corporate vision of the National and Provincial Offices.  Sustainable goals and objectives were identified, with regards to the ongoing fight against crime.  Three main goals were identified; school safety, community mobilization against crime and improving community police relations within the community. With these identified goals in mind, strategic focus areas were also identified;  A school safety program in collaboration with schools, the establishment of a community based activity program which will lead to the mobilization of the community against crime and the conducting of effective programs, projects and other police activities within the community, which will result in the improvement of community police relationships.  Steenberg Saps aim to change the perception of the community and thus increase the level of trust and integrity within the community.  A strong stance is taken on corruption, within the ranks of police personnel and the guarantee is given to the community that members involving themselves with corrupt activities will be dealt with in accordance with necessary disciplinary procedures, by doing so management aim to improve the perception, regarding police corruption.

Together we can make the difference between a society plagued by crime or a safe and secure environment for all.  Take our hand in the fight against crime.

CRIME WILL NO LONGER RULE OUR COMMUNITY!

For the past week Steenberg Saps have experience a marginal decline in overall contact related crimes.  Areas of concern to us, are Lavender Hill ( Domestic Violence), Retreat ( Theft out of motor vehicle and common robberies and Heathfield ( House breaking and Theft out of Motor Vehicle.  The community of Retreat and visitors are requested to report all crime to 10111.  The reason for this is, that if crime is directly reported to 10111 and police officers do not react to the call, disciplinary steps can be taken against those members in accordance of the Police Force disciplinary code of conduct.  This improving the service delivery to all.  The South African Police Force are committed to create a Safe and Secure Environment for all.

Steenberg Saps is also gearing up to celebrate Nelson Mandela's birthday on the 18 July 2011, for a man who has led the way in democracy and is still leading the way as to how humankind should treat it's fellow human beings.  Happy Birthday Madiba and may your light shine far beyond this life time.
